Music Trainer
Read notes on four clefs. Hear octaves. Get asked more of whatever you find hardest.
What it does
Reading
A clef, a key signature and one note. You name the letter, the accidental and the octave — across treble, bass, alto and tenor.
Octaves by ear
A note plays; you say which octave it was. Middle C is played first as a reference, because octaves are numbered from C and that boundary is the hard part.
It adapts
Every answer is recorded, and questions are weighted toward the notes you read worst. Key signatures open up as you earn them, and the stats screen shows you why.
Install it on your phone
Installing gives you the full screen with no browser bars, and it works with no signal at all.
- Tap the Share button at the bottom of Safari.
- Scroll down and choose Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add. It appears with your other apps.
Worth doing on an iPhone. Safari deletes a website's saved data after
seven days without a visit. Adding Music Trainer to your Home Screen exempts it — otherwise
your practice history can disappear. You can also export your progress to a file from
Settings at any time.
- Tap Install the app above, or open the ⋮ menu in Chrome.
- Choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
- Confirm. It appears in your app drawer.
- Tap Install the app above, if your browser offers it.
- In Chrome or Edge, you can also use the install icon in the address bar.
- In any other browser, the link above works fine — it just stays a tab.
You already have it installed. Open it from your home screen, or use the
button above.
